Over a hundred years ago, Dr. Sun Yat-sen, with unwavering revolutionary resolve, founded the Revolutionary Party and the Tongmenghui (Alliance Society). He traveled far and wide, raising funds overseas, and after more than a decade of hard struggle, he successfully overthrew the feudal Qing dynasty. He opposed imperialist aggression and humiliation, revised the unequal treaties that disgraced the nation, and led China toward national unity and independence, eventually paving the way for its emergence as a world power. At the same time, the ideals of democracy and republicanism took root deeply in the hearts of the people.

The 1911 Revolution brought about profound changes and upheavals in Chinese society, making China the first republic in Asia in the 20th century. Dr. Sun Yat-sen became one of the great historical figures of China. Every year on November 12th, overseas Chinese communities, organizations, and business circles around the world commemorate this great leader who dedicated his life to the revolution and the salvation of the Chinese people. His towering legacy and contributions to the Chinese nation are remembered and revered by generations.

Overseas Chinese were not only staunch supporters of Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s revolutionary cause but also the primary financial backers of the revolution. They nurtured and drove the success of the 1911 Revolution. The deep bond between Dr. Sun Yat-sen and the overseas Chinese is a testament to a glorious chapter in the history of China's struggle for survival. Dr. Sun honored the overseas Chinese as the "Mother of the Revolution," a title they rightly deserve.

Today, many universities, scholars, and researchers around the world continue to study Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s revolutionary thought and its significance in modern Chinese history. Dr. Sun Yat-sen blended Western theories and morals with Chinese traditional thought, such as benevolence and "the world as one community." These ideals represent the highest levels of human thought and remain highly relevant to the creation of a harmonious society.

We should adhere to the words of President Xi Jinping in his speech commemorating the 110th anniversary of the 1911 Revolution: all Chinese people, both at home and abroad, must unite even more closely, inherit and carry forward the great spirit of Dr. Sun Yat-sen and the pioneers of the 1911 Revolution, and work hand in hand to continue advancing toward the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation!
